Ever see a guy in his late 30's to early 40's that can spit back every line of any of the first 3 Star Wars and then do the same for any book that was written about it?

It's amazing to say WoW has it's own following....Think of some nerd that has collected every toy, book, Machinima clip, and anything else related to Warcraft and he's probably a Blizzard employee now...

Sorry guys!!! Nerds need lov'n too!!!

BTW when is the movie coming out?

How did it start would be a greater question.

Who started the story? Was it only one person with very high creativity or was it a group of people that just trow out some idea and they all put it together?

What about now? Is there a direction on how the history continue? Or is it the same group of people that keep investing their everlasting imagination?

Just wondering how much work is it to create and maintain a story like this without coming to an end / confusion.

- Player: "Server Down QQ"
- Blizzard Tech: "O'Rly?"
*Blizzard Tech playing with Bandwidth calibration*
(squeaking, then a loud explosion)
- Blizzard Tech: "Woah! Gonna need a new hamster."

Look up who's the one that reused it (hint: it was in the game first). OK, then, there you are.

Q u o t e:
Hakkar first existed in WELL OF ETERNITY, as Hakkar the Houndmaster, my creation. Blizzard must have liked the name, because they accidentally took the name afterward for the troll god. Chris Metzen apologized for the mix-up at the L.A. Festival of Books.

I'll be nicer if you'll be smarter.

So what's up with Gilneas and those islands that keep disappearing from the World Map?

Where is Kul Tiras!! :o

But, seriously, excellent work guys, the game is top-notch and the story is enjoyable. Keep it up!

Someday someone will best me. But it won't be today, and it won't be you.

We have a Historian and a department dedicated to the lore, the characters, and the worlds that have been created. They have a lot on their plates but they do a fantastic job.

They're lovingly referred to as "the retconnaisance team."

Either way, you should probably upgrade.

I know its your game and this is the bussiness you guys are into but how in the world do you guys keep up with all the seemingly endless lore and story arcs? Somebodys desk must have sticky notes as far as the eye can see. Some insight into the behind the scenes here would be a bit cool, thx.

Simple. Design your game world, then make up stories about it.

On that note, I'll never understand why Blizzard doesn't take 1/2 of a day's revenues and hire a REAL author to write a Warcraft book. Terry Goodkind, Lois Bujold McMaster, Anne McCaffrey, Orson Scott Card, someone who can really write good fanstasy. The 'lore' in this game is a joke, and anyone under the illusion that it's 'good' or 'makes sense' is kidding themselves.

Durids, u are my frends, and I likes you! almost like as much as bosoms!

What popular entity has better lore?

Star Wars? Stolen.
LotR? Boring as all get out.

WoW has horrible lore... that's still better then every other entity on the market.

Ducks? [ ] Yes [ ] No

Please dont be rude, Ive read all of the Wizards first rule books and many many others and while those books are great, Warcraft has the potential too be just as huge book wise. What warcraft has is really rich lore but its all over the place. While I did enjoy the warcraft books for what they were (quick reads ment just for the fun of it) one must remember when those books were made. It is my hope that Blizzard and their parent company will follow DnD's path and create a huge line of books that will be popular long after Wow is gone.

Jobs in that department fall under Creative Development for those wondering.

Is this a new department? Because it certainly didn't seem to be in place for the major Draeni Retcon of 2006... i.e. The Burning Crusade.

It's not a new department, but it is a growing department, and you'll have to forgive them for being human. :) It's no small task to keep track of three complex, distinct worlds, lore, history, and people.

Are you kidding I have a great deal of respect for the people working in that department they do a wonderful job. The fact that most of us are just learning about them now is somewhat sad they need more recognition!
My girlfriend is a writer and she's working on a bunch of projects, how she keeps her stories and stuff in order is beyond me I cannot imagine the amount of work it must take to keep wow's story line in check.

Go down the hall and tell them we <3 them.

I'm sorry world of warcraft isn't as good as your immense story line spanning 4 games dozens of books cardgames and boardgames and soon to be 2nd expansion.
