Prot paladins are so imba right now. Seriously. They got buffed probably more than Prot warriors did; and that's saying something. Across the board, DPS, threat gen and mitigation are up significantly. I do probably twice the DPS, about 3x the threat and take about 75% of the damage I used to.

I tanked all of Heroic MgT without realizing I had forgotten to put up righteous fury. And my gear is crap.

I will be tanking just like I do now. My wife is a holy priest and she will be healing. We will be leveling together and instances will be cake. I'll tell you, it is so nice to be able to speak to your healer without vent and crap.

I leveled to 70 as Prot, and plan on doing the same thing to 80 once I get the expansion.

Hopefully I've been good enough this year for Santa to give it to me for Christmas.

In a regular 5 man, being crit usually isnt an issue as long as the tank has enough stam to last through it.

I tanked every instance in outlands with just my base defense until around 68 when i started getting some stuff to be ready for 70, and then ended up staying ret anyway :(

My prot pally will be tanking to 80 as well, and depending on how much time I have to actually level he might spend more time running content instances then actually leveling.

I got 3rd highest damage in EoTS in my ret gear the other day. 1800 crits as prot are fun.

Who seriously intends on tanking lolnonheroiclevelling instances in TANK gear? Tank gear is for progression. Tanking in DPS gear is XP, quest rewards, speed, and fun. Besides, with the homogenization of healer gear, EVERYONE can help keep me up easier, and like half of the people out there WILL be capable of healing an instance in DPS gear, as a dps spec, so no one's left out. (Ret paladin in healing gear, ele shaman in ele gear healing, priests :O, druids I dunno about, but who wants to leave cuddly bears out of the loop?)

You should talk to a blacksmith, that gear is sufficient for the early dungeons and there is definitely gear to get from quests and higher levels to keep instance grinding viable. Also your current level 70 tanking gear could work for the very early dungeons depending on the quality.

Prot is that much fun! OP is a moron! Action tank! Just grab a shield and gear with a ton of str/crit/AP and enjoy your 50-55% crit rate with all the big tanking moves!

I'll probably be tanking in my s3/s4 for a while, not sure how fast that'll be replaced by leveling blues. but who cares. 12 second cooldown charge, in combat! 3k+ revenge/ss/shockwave crits. free heroic strikes. prot is off the hook! There are plenty of quest rewards to build a good tanking set. Additionally, for the normal mode dungeons, they are tuned so a DPS specced and geared tank can tank them successfully. You may have to swap in and out a few pieces for more stam, but the normal dungeons aren't that tough for tanks in DPS gear. In particular, the early dungeons are extremely easy and anyone in T5+ gear will tank them in DPS gear.

PvP gear is actually pretty good for tanking whilst leveling. Loads of stam, resilience doesn't suck as a prot stat. Mix in a little defence gear and you're set. It's not itemised for parry/dodge/expertise/block, but it will do in a pinch - say if you are missing a piece.

Shield slam won't hit so hard, but Revenge, Devastate, Thunderclap etc will do just fine.

I really dislike that... I hate having that 'Made By' tag on my gear. There's something that's very unnerving about it, like I didn't work for it myself. <shrug> I dunno, guess I'm just a weird dude like that.

That being said, the loot tables on instances bosses seems terribly small right now... I'm not sure if I like that, either.
