Summary: The priest talent Rapture is supposed to return mana based on the priest's maximum mana. When damage is absorbed by a Power Word: Shield or Divine Aegis shield, the amount of mana returned is erroneously based on the target's maximum mana, not the priest's. When a class with no mana (e.g. warrior, rogue) absorbs damage, no mana is returned at all.

Reproducibility: The problem persists in the currently live released version 3.0.3 (build 9183) and was also present in the previous version. The bug is present when all mods are disabled, although mods do not seem to affect it in any way. The priest must have the Rapture talent as well as the Divine Aegis talent (to verify it affects divine aegis and not just power word: shield). The problem can be verified by observing the combat log text in game or after saving a combat log via the /combatlog command and doing the following:

1. Cast power word: shield on a class with no mana such as a warrior or rogue while the target is taking damage. You will see damage being absorbed in the combat log but no mana returns from rapture.
2. Cast power word: shield on any class with mana while the target is taking damage (this can be a feral druid in bear form). You will see damage being absorbed in the combat log as well as mana returns from rapture.
3. Cast power word: shield on a class with a different amount of maximum mana while the target is taking damage. You will see damage being absorbed in the combat log as well as mana returns from rapture. The amount of mana returned per point of damage absorbed will be proportional to the target's maximum mana.
4. Repeat the above step after spam healing the target with binding heal (which does not return mana via rapture) until a crit heal results in a divine aegis proc. You will see exactly the same results with a divine aegis shield as with power word: shield.

I have several saved combat log showing the above, although it is easy to verify and 100% reproducible.

I can verify that this bug is legit and on the live realms. Was happening all night last night to a priest healer in my guild. It is so bad that it breaks the spec...he is having to respec to holy until this is fixed. Please take a look at this ASAP.

This is happening for me as well. This bug renders this spec completely useless. The main form of mana feedback is via PW:Shield and Aegis. The whole point of this spec is to spam as many crits as possible to apply a shield for guaranteed mana feedback.

I love Disc raid healing but unfortunately I am forced to respec until this bug is resolved. I had severe mana problems in Naxx. I hope it is not tabled too long because Disc raid healing is relatively rare. This is a real shame because Disc raid healing is extremely usefull and effective in my opinion.

Ditto. Tested this on a Warrior and DK tank and did not recieve any mana return with Rapture from damage absorption by PW:Shield or Divine Aegis. I later tested on a Paladin tank and it gave mana return.

Seems like it only returns mana if the player with the shield has a mana pool.

This issue needs serious attention from the developers. Is it possible to get a blue response here, to let us know you are aware that Rapture, on the live realms, is completely broken...and that a fix is forthcoming soon? Thank you.

no wonder im always running out of mana. Even though healing instances 3 levels past mine should be a big hendrance to my mana pool. based on the spec I thought i was doing a little better.

oh btw. Mana regen should also work with the Devine Aegis Shield ;D

I have also tested and confirmed this bug. This really limits the mana regen from rapture. I would really like to see this one fixed asap.

Can we get confirmation this is being looked at? This significantly impacts a priests viability and sustainability as a tank healer -- the disc priests stated raid role.

bump, this affects not only disc priests but the choice of tanks for raids. At them moment we can keep an equivalently geared pali up longer than a warrior or a bear.
