the point is that I don't spec destro for arenas because i know it sucks... THE PROBLEM IS THAT I DON'T HAVE A SINGLE GOOD PVP TREE. wth am I supposed to do? I'm not lvling and gearing another character because it's too time consuming and pointless to jump around to classes that might get broken by blizz.

If i had a choice to spec into a viable tree I would as a lock but that isn't the case.

Seriously, Mage Armor is rediculous, and is basically Kalgan's input after finding out first hand that there was still a class that Warlocks could beat.

BTW, all argument about Pet utility are void, for they will either be corpses or useless. And to everyone that is bringing up talented abilities in the warlock arsenal: METAMORPHOSIS AND SUMMON FELGUARD ARE DEMO ABILITIES! And Deep Demo is NOT a PvP spec. Meta is retardedly placed, and the Felguard wasn't buffed in LK because Blizzard doesn't want him tanking anymore.


I should find screen shots that have a searing totem hitting harder than a lvl 80 felgaurd.

I have to say, this does seem a bit much.

I suppose they're trying to get us to switch armor more often. The only thing I can think of that approaches balance with this is the fact that with mage armor up we have nothing to defend against melee.

This is an Arcane ability, arcane is the anti-caster tree for mages. I thought that was understood, or did slow reducing cast time by 60% not tip you off? Improved CS maybe gave you a hint? No? Mages are "masters of the arcane". We should have an anti magic tree. QQ somewhere else.

BOOMKINS DO CRAZY DPS, HAVE HIGH ARMO, AND CAN HEAL!

Take your torches and pitchforks and go bother the druids.

Because we all know mages have to cast Arcane Intellect just to comprehend acronyms:

1. Frost Nova
2. Blink
3. Chill Effect
4. Ice Block

Ice Armor doesn't do near as much as these effects. Yes, most have some kind of cooldown or hinderance, but they are still there, so you can afford to lose one little pathetic passive defense against melee for these.

BTW, the best defense against Melee is to not get hit at all. Reducing their attack speed doesn't do all that much, and the armor gain is broken by Armor Pene, just like Demon Armor o.O

Now you mages know what Warlocks never used Demon Armor even though our main weakness was Melee: +900 armor vs 900 armor penetration= 0 Armor.

How about you don't change the subject? It's an anti-caster tree. High resists only go to further compliment the ANTI-CASTER part of it.

funny this only makes sense to you when you are doing it, but if it was an SL./SL lock in season 2/3 you would be LOLcrying your eyes out about resists and dmg mitigation, get over youself the armor is op, magic absorbtion should be changed to 3/6% magic dmg reduction and move along...

Well, they did lower the mana cost on SLOW.. so that you can sit there and spam it while waiting on your arcane barrage.

I always considered slow to be a powerful spell (coming from a diff MMO .. I would know), but when I asked my mage friend why he never used it or why there weren't many arcane mages around, the answer was always "mana efficiency".

On the contrary, while much of the name calling is appropriate for 5th graders, it's actually an interesting thread. You have people on both side arguing their points. If this had just been in the warlock forum, the same classes would just be bumping it, frustrated that nobody from Blizzard came in and promised to nerf mages.

FWIW, Mage Armor is quite powerful, but it's a trade-off. It's going to make mages harder to kill by some classes but easier to others. That seems like a decent design, so then it just comes down to numbers. We'll keep an eye on it, but it's not something slated for an imminent nerf.

Id like you to defend Mage Armor against Shadow Priests and how the number of classes that have direct counters to them seems to be increasing.

To PvP in the 2v2 bracket i will now have to avoid; Mages (Mage Armor), Hunters (Viper Sting), Rogues (LAWL), Disc/Holy Priests (Where my DoTs go?), and Shamans (Where my Buffs go?).

And yet Dispersion health regen was removed, and the Shadow Word: Death backlash decrease from Pain and Suffering was nerfed from 60% to 30%.

This would be true if the Mage class did not have standard, built-in counters against melee, but they do. Mages do not have to spec for Blink, nor frost nova, nor ice block, nor snaring frostbolts. Also, depending on spec, Mages gain even more melee-counters ( ice barrier, slow, etc) to the point that using any other type of "Mage Armor" seems rather ..well pointless.
