I have but one thing to say to the mods:

So fired...

Come on, it's been what? 4 days since the new boards are up? Quit deleting threads and start stickying them.

Third page! ZOMG.

Tarana, you are my goddess. Therefore, it is my duty to bring this back to the light of the first page.

Gee, I'd like to care, but I don't possess that gene.

Thank you to the people who are bumping this. Glad I get some support on that. :-p

Carnival's Enemy Castbar is totally replaced by Natur's enemy cast bar. You'll find it on curse-gaming rather than worldofwar.net

(and can we get some deletion on all the "bump/sticky" posts?) :)

you might want to edit the part where you say

"But where do I..."
Thunderbluff

i'm assuming this is in regards to training in staves, well not many people know this but you can train staves in Org as well. there are two weapon trainers in the valley of honor in the back near the blacksmith hut. one teaches staves.

The deal with that post section is that it's Huzzah's Guide To Not Posting Your Inane Crap, a sort of priest forum legend. Changing it would be like rewriting history such that neighboring countries only came into Israel to give the Israelis candy and that the "explosives" were really the distribution device, which killed nobody.

That, and his point was to throw people COMPLETELY off track by sending them to somewhere so devoid of usefulness as to make them wish they had never asked the question.

And that was useful to the priest community how?

Note to the Original Poster:

Thank you for writing this FAQ. That being said...

When making a FAQ, please refrain from using shorthand talent names (MS, instead of Mental Strength, for example), unless you've already used the term somewhere in the current paragraph.

I personally find it annoying to consult another webpage to figure out what all the shorthand stands for. To you it might seem obvious what SG is. But you're not the one that is going to consult the FAQ.

Thank you again for all of your time and effort.

Your point is quite valid. I would edit it and change the occurences, but there's an issue with the post length. The way the new forums work, if you reach the cap on characters for a post, it simply lops off the end of it. For every single flippin' post in the original thread, it lopped off nearly 1/3 of the post. I honestly required nearly 2x the space to post the same information. Posts 1 and 2 are both at nearly exactly the cap on characters. Changing the shorthand to longhand even once would push something else off, which makes me shift things down or edit out passages. I've weeded out as much as I've felt I'm able (example: I removed 3 entire sections of the first post at one point to add in a few sentences), which isn't to say that there's not room for improvement, but it does mean that it's getting harder and harder to weed out characters in order to reach the cap again.

First off, thanks for reposting this as it's an amazing thread that answers pretty much every stupid (and good, but overasked) question on the priest forums.

Secondly, in regards to what you wrote above, it may be possible that you have a slight amount of room on the last post. If so, you might be able to just put a short and to the potion quick reference to the shorthand names to what was mentioned in the post.

Thirdly, this guide states that only dwarves or undead make good priests. Humans still make good priests with the +5% spirit, and having desperate prayer as well. Sure, stone form and fear ward are good, but they're extremely situational, and often better for pve than pvp. Dwarves also make extremely ugly priest, imho. As well, undeads real advantage is apparently devouring plague, but it's a mana sink, and isn't actually very nessasary at all. Again, it's highly situational. Really, all the races make good priests. I know it told me not to mention night elves, but really, any night elf can heal just as good as any other class, once and a while a wipe may have been avoided with desperate prayer, and in a couple places fear ward is useful... but not enough to say you should have picked those races.

I know the topic comes up alot... but really, it's stupid to assume that people are going to care only about a couple of racials that in the grand scheme of things won't make your gameplay that much worse without them. I've played both a dwarf and a night elf priest, and I'd say that shadowmeld was used far more often than fear ward...

Just had to say that since this guide contains a ton of useful information, but that section is biased and is solely a matter of opinion.

Great FAQ, here are just a few more points you may consider putting in.

Q u o t e:
How do I get Benediction?
Step 1: Go to Molten Core and kill Majordomo. Eye of Divinity is a 50% drop rate from his chest.

Note that the chest can be opened even if you didn't participate in the fight to kill Majordomo. Many guilds that have Molten Core on farm status already have all of the Eyes of Divinity that they need. If you ask around, you may be able to get in and pick up an Eye of Divinity that would otherwise go to waste. Some guilds may do this for a fee, others not so much. Either way, you need to be attuned to Molten Core, and standing by ready to enter MC the moment the guild kills Majordomo and reports the chest contains your eye. You then step in, they'll summon you in, you loot the chest for the Eye, and hearth out.

Q u o t e:
Step 2: Kill scads of Heredrine Slayers and Heredrine Initiates in Winterspring (Darkwhisper Gorge) for The Eye of Shadow.
It's also a 100% drop from Lord Kazzak (world boss). It's BoE, so you can find it in the Auction House. Don't equip it, just leave it in the mailbox until you complete step 4.

Q u o t e:
Step 3: Put on the EoD, go to the path just west of Stratholme's main door (the one between the gate and Terrorweb Tunnel with no mobs) and find the quest giver. She's invisible if you don't have the eye on.
She's at 18,20. You might have to take off the Eye and then put it on again to see her. Do NOT take off the Eye after you start the quest to get back your regular trinket -- you won't be able to see the peasants or the skeletons and will fail step 4.

Q u o t e:
Step 4: Save 50 peasants before 15 die or you die. Skeletal Archers shoot arrows at them and can't be touched. Melee come up and bash them (and you) and can be dealt with by Oil of Immolation (purchasable, craftable through Alchemy). Melee Skellies have 100 hp. Finally, diseases afflict the peasants as they leave. Cure those. Spawns are at the cave and they walk to the light. Get a million buffs before you go in or you'll have problems. AI, Mark, a 15 minute wisdom (if the paladin leaves immediately after buffing), either the +stam or +int buff from Blasted Lands, etc. I had stacked my stamina up to 4.5k and mana pool to 6.8k for the encounter with foods, potions, etc., and did it with no meditation and a gimp holy nova.
Definitely down rank your renews and flash heals (and Holy Nova if you have it). In 1.12, it's confirmed that there's a bug that the V key no longer shows the peasants' health (even if you use ctrl-V or shift-V). See this post:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=11932142&sid=1

The main spells you'll use are Abolish Disease, Renew, Flash Heal, Holy Nova (if you have it), and then Inner Focus (if you have it) plus GHeal on yourself. The skeletons fear so if you have 2 or 3 on you then a few more coming in, you might fear off the first 2-3, then wait for all of them to be around you when you use the Stratholme Holy Water (which wipes all skellies in range out instantly).

Remapping your buttons to make Abolish Disease easy to cast might be a good idea. A soulstone and healthstone may come in handy. Thorns is useful and combines well with the oil of immolation.

You may also want to remap tab/shift-tab to target friendly instead of target enemy.

Just a suggestion....

Seems to me alot of the people that would benefit from this post might have some trouble with all of the abbreviations and acronyms. You might just go ahead and spell out everything instead of saying: Fow vs. SG

Nice post
