Q u o t e:
I am very, very surprised at the overall reaction from some players to this event. I'm truly sorry to those that have expressed frustration. It's only natural that there might be some initial shock and dismay, but I'd like to submit that this is a pretty amazing opportunity.

So it is.

For people who want it.

Q u o t e:
World of Warcraft changes. We have holidays and realm based events. We have patches and updates. Very occasionally, we release a new expansion - and when we do our Developers flex their massive creative muscles in an effort to make it truly memorable.

Yeah. You know, it'd be pretty memorable if we all lost all our characters, too. Or if you used our billing information to call us at home at 3AM and shout obscenities at us. I'd remmeber that too.

Q u o t e:
This plague is something special. It's an event that is very likely to occur only once, and for a very brief period of time, in the entire lifespan of World of Warcraft. Many, for one reason or another, will miss it. You, by participating, can become part of the history of World of Warcraft. You may find yourself telling stories and sharing laughs about your zombie triumphs and tribulations months and years from now.

Or I may find myself telling people stories about the incompetent idiots who thought that I was probably just mistaken about my preference when I said that I wanted to play PvE.

Q u o t e:
I realize that it's a bit rough to do ordinary run of the mill in-game activities, but it might be worth the time to try participating in the event for a while and really sink your teeth into it, if you'll forgive the pun. All those other things will be waiting for you after the event is over.

Really?

Hallow's End quests available for the full duration after the Zombie Plague?

If so, all I need to know is when this event is over, and I'll come back and do my Hallow's End stuff then.

Q u o t e:
You might even find that you have a taste for it.

No, really, I won't.

This is pretty offensive. Did it ever occur to you that maybe some people actually do know their own preferences, and don't need to be "forced to try new things" to be happy?

I rolled PvE because I can't handle the emotional effect PvP has on me. Yes, I'm unusual. Yes, my brain's defective. We know that; I have a nice little bit of paperwork, and it's technically illegal to fire me over it, for instance.

So I want to go about doing my Hallow's End stuff. Without being attacked by players.

You just said that everything else will be waiting for us when we get back. Were you lying, or is that actually true?

*dons her Blizzard hat*

Ahem.

On behalf of Blizzard Entertainment, we apologize for any inconvenience the impending zombie invasion may have caused. We have a sneaking suspicion from the sudden appearence of Northrend that this has something to do with the Lich King - perhaps he's feeling wrathful and looking to make war on the citizens of Azeroth and Outlands. Hmm... Anyway, we are currently working on a number of ways to make your life inconvenience free!

As you all know, we are highly sympathetic to any actual work having to be done, so instead of having to walk 5 feet to an Argent Healer in Shattrath to cure yourself, the Argent Healers will now hunt you down and pound your heads with a crucifix until the disease has been expelled from your character's brutalized body. If this should fail, they will fly you, safely above the zombie death clouds, immediately outside of Shattrath and drown you in a small lake that has emptied and refilled with holy water.

In an effort to contain the zombie threat, any player who has been fully infected has been deemed incurable. If they somehow avoid the watchful eyes of Argent Healers, they will be expelled from the world upon trying to zone, and will be entirely unable to reenter. This has already been implemented.

We understand the frustration of trying to go about your day with some inconsiderate scourge chewing on your head, so upon your next log in, all players should find anti-undead grenades in their inventory. One grenade will entirely cleanse your current zone of the undead scourge, and as an added bonus will kill all mobs, too! Some people have stated that this might be slightly overpowered, but they said the same thing about warlocks, and the general population hasn't said a word about them!

Another anti-scourge measure being implemented is the megaphone. If danger approaches, simply crank the volume up and whine in a high, nasal tone. Anything with ears will go running!

As a final measure to repel the invading legion of the mindless undead, all world leaders will be given magic wands to wave that expel any unwanted inhabitants back to Northrend. The only exception is A'dal - he is already magic, so we'll just give him a stick upon which to mount himself.

We hope these changes will be satisfactory, and if not, you're just too bleedin' whiney!

Seriously though people. This is an undead invasion initiated by the Lich King to inspire us to fight back - it's the foundation of the next expansion! They're working on the bugs - since most people can't be bothered to go on the PTR and test the upcoming content (and even those who do can't test it fully, as there are tiny differences between PTR and live servers), there WILL be bugs. Nobody's life is on the line, and if they pushed back the content the year they'd need to get them all out, they'd lose their entire customer base. Yes, this IS a game, and people WOULD generally prefer slightly buggy content to no content at all. Suck it up for a couple weeks! It's an invasion - it's not meant to be something that you aren't affected by. People dying, others turning into the undead? This is what has happened before in the world portrayed, now they make it happen where you can have some fun with it and all you can do is %#!%@ and moan about it? This is a one time experience, you should be participating and enjoying it, rather than clamoring pointlessly on a forum because everything's not perfect and they couldn't make everyone happy. Well guess what - life's not fair, and you'll NEVER make everyone happy, but they dang well try and are working to help those who aren't. I'm usually all for pointing out the flaws in what they're doing and all the changes they're making to destroy the game, and I'm one of the poor people who've been locked out of a toon because of the zombie bug. While there is definitely room for improvement, some of you are just too determined to find fault in something with so much potential.

Disclaimer: Because I know someone out there would actually take me seriously, I'd like to point out that I am NOT a Blizzard employee, affiliate, or in any other way related to Blizzard beyond being a subscriber to this game.

Woah!

You mentioned that you were going to miss the entire World Event, and I suggested a means by which you could participate. If that's insulting to you, then I genuinely apologize.

None of this impacts our efforts to resolve transfer and realm issues. Those will be resolved as swiftly as possible.

We had a few infected people in BT last night.

We either cleansed them or if they turned, we killed them, had them release, then ressed them so it wouldn't interfere with the raid.

Always fun getting a chance to blast your friends in a raid! :)

That's good news. As long as I can still raid, I'm a happy camper... er... zombie... BRAAAAAIIIIINNNNSSSS!

Nope, it says that Mal was suggesting a workaround for experiencing the zombie event, which the previous poster had gotten angry about because his character was currently stuck. Instead, you are taking it to mean that Mal is telling you how to play the game, which isn't the case at all.

I understand that everyone has their own preferences, of course. I was merely trying to encourage everyone to take a step back and perhaps examine the event in a new light, that's all. I certainly never meant to offend, and I'm sorry if you found my post offensive =(.

According to the very best information I have available currently, it should still be possible to perform Hallow's End quests for a period of time after the plague runs its course.

What about the RAF bonus that people can't take advantage of due to griefing like behavior from the zombie event?

Am I and others just out of luck and lose time on the RAF window due to leveling low level alts being extremely difficult from zombie griefing?

Hardly seems fair.

You know, your post probably wouldn't have offended me if it weren't on top of a dozen or so people telling me to lighten up and enjoy PvP.

That is very awesome.

Between this and the account credit for unused time, I'm a happy customer. (Which is sort of what I expected.)

I am not enjoying this event in the least. I do not think it is 'fun". i think it is Blizzard sanctioned griefing because of the way other players are making it very difficult for people to turn in quests. Hate every bit of it.

This is just fan-friggin-tastic. So I haven't been able to play all week because of the crazy 3-5k lag and now if I do actually get on I'm going to be swarmed by this stupid zombie harassment.

I've been very cool about the server issue thing, I know how stuff goes, but there have been crazy issues for over a week and now Blizz stacks the problem with this zombie garbage.

I agree with some of the other posters that would like to be able to freeze their accounts in times like this and not have to pay for the week or weeks of insanity. Given that you'll never do it, since you'll make crazy money regardless of what you inflict on your player base, could we at least sign up for an e-mail when you're done screwing around?

I just don't get the mixed message. You setup raiding such that it has to a 2nd job to get ANYWHERE and then do crap like this and say 'hey, we're all about fun first'.

All my rant really boils down to is angry_customers++ in some database. Yay, love you too blizz.

If you arent having fun with the game, you should consider taking a break for a while. As a former raider i understand how frustrating raiding can be (Downed Vashj before 2.4 and couldnt really down Kael, my guild fails D:) but it shouldnt feel like a second job. You should do it because you enjoy the challenge and if you arent enjoying it anymore, stop playing.

I am also sorry that you dont enjoy the event, though ive always leveled on pvp servers i dont pvp very much. IT has taught me how to defend myself and how to not take it so seriously when someone kills me. Id like to add that i get shaky an stressed when pvping, i really do understand what kind of an effect an event like this has on some people. It has also taught me to expect the worst from people in any situation (kinda sad really) so that things like this dont really affect me. Again this is just my perspective on things and dont wish you to change how you feel.

If you are really that upset about it, take a few days off check with your guild to see if the event is still happening, and come back after its done. A little breather is always welcome (i just came back from a month or so of logging in once a week if that).

Good luck, and most importantly, try to find what makes the game fun for you :)

I have looked at this event the other way, and its worse than what it is now because then I would be Betraying everything I once stood for in this game. and then I would be no better than the harassers.

It is obvious that you are quite upset, and I understand that. It also seems that you are actively seeking to perceive only the ills involved in this event though.

I'm not sure what you mean by betraying all that you stand for in World of Warcraft exactly, but I would like to point out that that you do have the opportunity to try to protect other players by combating Scourge influence - intelligent, player guided Scourge agents - loose in the streets of your home cities.

If you so desire, you can opt to succumb to the infection, and for the first time ever (albeit temporarily), participate in World of Warcraft as part of a separate third faction.

And, for those that seek to avoid the menace, the option exists to avoid population centers and seek out farming, questing, instance runs and other such activities away from the hot spots of activity. I realize that this is much easier said than done, and I once again extend my apologies to those that are actively unhappy with the event and its progression.
