I have seen many half guides to these, even on WOWwiki, so I grabbed what I found and put them here. If anyone has any additions to use and useless against certain spells, please post. If there are any specific questions, as to the usefulness I will add a Question section.

Other notes for random spells:

Lady Vashj

Frost Shock; HUGE for the Coilfang striders
Earthbind Totem; Works on coilfang striders and naga elites
Stoneclaw Totem; "Usually" pulls the striders, so you can get it in kiting position for the lock / hunter with possibility to stun.


Thanks everyone, I am taking comments with a little research of my own, and I tried to pull from other threads, hopefully we can keep this up-to-date.

You can use grounding totem to suck up the lighting bolts the mage ogre shoots in the High King fight in Gruuls lair. I had to heal that, enhance spec/geared since I was supposed to dps after that guy died. Grounding totem was awesome for allowing me to heal that. :D

Wanna add ele mastery to the shaman list of purgables?

10 bazzilion k CL crits dont work if you get busted ;)

Grounding does not work on the shades in Kara. The ones that do nothing but cast spells, yeah grounding won't soak that up... made me sad the first time i tried it. Good news is they can be earthshocked.

Can use grounding to suck up the warlock's death coils in Gruuls.

Not as specific, but here's what I use em for.

Grounding: Great vs mobs that mana drain you. Totem is immune and eats em all up.

Purge: Great vs mobs that cast HoT.

Grounding Totem eats Lady's Vashj's Shock Blast on the MT

Dalliah the Doomsayer is in Arcatraz, not Mana Tombs. You can no longer ground her debuff, but you can still interrupt it with earth shock.

You can also ground Soccrates' (Arcatraz) Flame Shock.

i can confirm this, GT does not absorb her debuff

Shock

this is HUGE as the shock can crit for 10k, and stuns the main tank.
for all u guilds watching lady vashj videos wondering how the guild manages to keep lady vashj still the whole time, thats how they do it.

earhtshock also works for shade of aran, the ads in mag, and the ads in solarian

Random note: Many fun uses for spells we don't use in PVE in lady vashj

Frost Shock; HUGE for the Coilfang striders
Earthbind Totem; Also works on coilfang striders and the naga elites
Stoneclaw Totem; I KNOW! Usually pulls the striders, so you can get it right in kiting position for the lock / hunter. Has a possibility to stun them while u drop an earthbing + frostshock straight after.

For the pvp section. You can use grounding totem for hunters' traps.

ah excuse my manners. purge does have uses, like on the gatekeepers in mech when they use shadow power

Earth Shock for the Priest in the Fathomlord encounter.

Just yesterday, I found that Grounding Totem really makes the Maiden fight much easier, since it takes a lot of stress off of the healers..

Purge is quite useful for removing some of the mind control effects.
