To anyone saying a drop off the HH based upon RNG is unfair, you need to re-evaluate your definition of fair.

Fair is giving everyone the same chance of obtaining or accomplishing this feat, in this instance. Fair is not giving it to each and every person up front. Since Blizz wanted the achievement to be to some degree rare or not easily obtainable they choose the fairest system possible. They could have made it just the first 500 characters or some such to complete the HH quests.

Also the drop rate on the squashling has not seemed so bad to my eyes. In the 20 summons so far I've run it has dropped 3 times. I only wish I had a standard group going so that when next it dropped I would have a 50% of getting.

You're damn lucky then. In over 50 HH kills i've only seen the pet drop once (and you guessed it) lost the roll to another RNG. Theres nothing to this thing that's an "achievement". It's just dumb luck plain and simple.

no matter what blizzard does the have nots are always going to flood the boards with tears bcuz their 15 buys them a sense of entitlement you dont see anywhere else.

if you care this much about it....youre doing it wrong.

i would say puking and hugging corpses are not much of an achievement either but you dont hear people crying about the accessibility to that. i guess that makes the sinister calling an actual achievement.

honestly i would agree with you on the drop rate if it was a bit higher like a medium drop rate. and some ppl didn't already have both the pet and the hallowed helm items from last year just because they didn't want to farm headless horseman again to get them so they can show off in sw or shatt that they had it last year.

How stupid that people who get a rare pet get rewarded with a rare item if they complete all of the other holiday events. This is the hardest part of that whole holiday achievement. The squashling and the helm should have a higher drop rate so that the people who want to complete this achievement actually get a chance to complete it.

You got it wrong this time Blizzard.

You know the answer to this. ;) You can be present on one character for more than five summons a day, and while I completely understand the concern present regarding player behavior and we will discuss it (the root problem, not GMs actioning it, as one poster thought I meant), many of the people doing such are doing so with the support of their guild and friends.

Title for the meta achievement: "The Hallowed"

Which I will be proudly wearing.

EDIT: But I, for one, agree that it shouldn't be based off of luck. But more or less skill. I really do hope everyone else striving for this achievement will get it!

TIP: To greatly increase your chance to get the squashling to drop on a daily basis then start asking lvls 65-69 from outland if they want a horseman run. Make sure that there is a warlock in your group and compensate the lower level by giving him all the loot from the horseman (rings and sword, etc) except for the pet, hallowed helm, and mount possibly if it drops. They will be grateful and you have more than 5 runs a day.

Sorry, but requiring lots of people to give up their chance of getting the drop so that you can is called being selfish. I would hope that such behavior would not be encouraged in this manor.

The event was setup with a rather clear purpose of a single person, at most being present for five summoning. That is not the average no mater how I look at it.

What serious game breaking imbalance will result in people getting the achievement done? Seriously, if people put in the time (and looking at all the running all over you have to do to get the achievements done, you put in time) they should be able to get it done.

Like I've said before, it could be done better in many different ways
1. Give faction per HH kill, let us buy it at exalted
2. Give tokens for HH kills, let us buy it with tokens
3. Let it be Group lootable
4. Let is be pet or helm not both
5. Remove the summon limit

This is not gear that is going to alter or break encounters or pvp balance (thats what the patch did), so stop the insanity.

I have to agree that theres an insanely frustrating blocker that affects most of the players...
Making a brand new achievement sysyem, the makie it so a majority will be stopped at the very first world event will end up aggravating alot of the clients... Not to mention this goes vastly towards promoting greed and in turn ninja looting, further adding to the problem.

Maybe make Sinister calling depend on having either the Squashling OR the cloth helm instead of both would mitigate it somewhat...

Just my 2 cents.

So basically your solution is have an obscene amount of alts or guild your friends into letting you have it and not get it themselves? What a wonderfully unhealthy amount of playing time for a non game balance item. Achievements are not supposed to be something this bastardized.

In that statement I was speaking about people who were striving for the achievement, and those people are doing at least 5 summons a day, but we're not judging by the extreme end. You're free to disagree with me, of course. :)

Again, my group of 5 has done it 102 times so far. One person has the squashling from last year. So far we all have helms, but have not seen a single squashling. Is this intended by you and the developers that you discussed this with?

Is 102 attempts and nothing along the lines of what you find acceptable? We got another 9 days, so about 225 more attempts before were out of chances. But at this rate, its not looking good, and Ill be lucky to see one or two drop at the very least.
