BTW I was thinking something more along the lines of legal auction.

Problem is, legally there's not too much recourse that I have. I was a US Citizen visiting another country, which is a wonderfully gray area. The only rights I probably had were those granted to me by the Geneva Convention and other international treaties, and they aren't very much.

Now, of course, this is the way things ARE -- the way they ought to be is much different. I've said it before in this thread, I have little respect for a country that does not grant its noncitizens at least most of the rights that it grants its citizens. It shows that the country views these rights as a nuisance, and does not respect why its citizens are granted these rights.

I feel for ya dude, not the way you wanna start a trip. The reason I was asking on the racial profiling is because I see it everyday. I fly frequently , and the poor travelers ( who are not white ), regardless of age or sex, full search. White guy, shows his passport and he's on his way.

I believe the reason you were detained was because of the IPOD. IPOD, was mentioned as a possible detonating device in the British thing not too long ago. So they probably had no choice when seeing one in the bathroom.

Im a bit confused. Being only in highschool I do not know much about the workings and laws surrounding immigration offices. Are they considered a sort of Country of their own with their own laws, or do they share the laws from both countries? I don't understand how your computer could be searched like that legally.

I live in Ottawa and I know fist hand how crazy it can get up here. Don't worry about customs here tho......they may act tough but the Ottawa police and customs are pansies when confronted.

I would suggest sending your story to the Ottawa Sun....it is a more liberal and friendly paper (not stuffy like the Citizen).

Check the links interspersed throughout the first page. The Sun did do a blurb on the story, though they never contacted me about it.

I mentioned it earlier in the thread. I basically ranted about how, instead of bringing people to justice for 9/11, we took it out on an entire country, ending up costing us even more lives in the end. (And it's not the end yet even.) Rather than repeat myself ... you should go find my earlier post. It will be like a 500-post, 24-page scavenger hunt. Fun fun! :P
