I live in Canada and the only place you'll find more francophone than anglophone is in Quebec. Maybe you hit the only '' forced francophone employment procedure to balance discrimination '' there :)
but I can't argue regarding their love/hate towards their jobs. I don't really think it is relevant to the place you live though.

Sounds like my last trip to Canada.

I got stopped at the border and had my car half disassembled... TWICE... because one of my passengers committed a crime as a juvenile (he took a joyride in someone else's car). I arrived at our campsite 17 hours behind the other people I had been driving with.

On the way back, they detained me again because they thought I might have purchased the canoe I was transporting in Canada (apparently, canoe smuggling is a serious problem up there).

And all of this was prior to 9-11. Needless to say, I won't be going back.

I've also had a bullet keychain confiscated at an airport (also prior to 9-11). Demonstrated that there was no powder in the shell and that there was a screw through the firing cap. Not to mention that the "bullet" I was smuggling onto teh plane wouldn't have been of much use without an M-60 to load it in. No matter. I'm sure he just wanted it for himself. He didn't get it. I threw it away.

I'd probably have run into trouble on the "Do you think the government is too big and has too much power?" Because I would have either had to suck up my real opinion and say "No" to avoid trouble, when I really think it is.

Ah hell, I went on one of my classic libertarian tirades. I said it was obviously terrible that thousands of people died in 9/11, and that sort of thing should never happen, and the PEOPLE involved should be brought to justice, but the thousands of Americans and innocent Iraqis that died because we didn't bring PEOPLE to justice, we took it out on a COUNTRY, is not an appropriate retaliation. Not to mention the massive curtailing of civil rights, PLUS the economic cost of funding this sort of response ...

He got it all on tape. I ranted for a good 15 minutes about what our current Congress and President did wrong, why the Supreme Court is wrong for not stopping it, and what should have happened.

If you're going to parrot talking points, at least take the time to spell them correctly. It might help you to fool the uninformed.

Wow, what a story! It seems that suspects are guilty until proven innocent nowadays. Pretty sad. I bet the real terrorists couldn't be happier about that.

Sorry to hear about all the trouble you had entering Canada - I hope it did not sour you on our Country - we don't all suck as much as (some) Police and Government employees (who mostly all hate their jobs.. well gov't employees anyway..)

Why, I visited most of Ottawa including Parliament Hill, and parts of Toronto including the CN tower.

hey stupid hows the cornhole??

You know, I had no idea our authorties were so hardcore about this stuff. When you get pulled over in a car in the States, the darned cops pull a friggin gun on you (not that I blame them down there). You get a speeding ticket up here and the cops are usually polite, and completely non-threatening about it. Thus, I always assumed that our authorites were much slacker than the US authorites in general.
