June 20th last year was the day Naxx went live, with the Scourge Invasion world event that came with it; we're nearing the 1 year anniversary, is it coming back?
IIRC, one of the CMs did say that the Scourge would invade again one day. My guess is that day will be around the time we go to Northrend or help the silly elves retake The Sunwell or somthing.
I am a God in my own right. My right hand is lightning and my left is thunder. My eyes are flame, my heart is ashes. Look upon me and tremble.
that was a fun encounter. i'll never forget getting pissed at traveling al the way to Winterspring, just to see that last skull icon disappear from the minimap and see KTs yell spammed in the zone.
Currently we're focused on developing future events so the Scourge Invasion is a bit on the backburner though it may very well be back again at some point in the future.
Well, 'scuse me. I was jus' tryin' to save the world.

Go on, prove me wrong. Destroy the fabric of the universe. See if I care.

Yes, it's coming back. Count on it. I don't remember their exact words, but Blizzard reps here hinted as much in a discussion of the concurrence of the Summer Solstice event and the Scourge Invasion event.
The Lich King in distant Northrend shall once again set his sight on the mortal lands of Azeroth. A new wave of plague and horror will sweep across the land of the breathing to reap all that lives. For the Scourge is coming, once again. Heroes will set sail to brave the coming shadow and bring war to the realm of the fallen prince before the storm reach theirs... Heroes will set sail for the corld, dark wastelands of the north... beyond the Shores of Northrend ®.

Translation: Everybody that can work to stop the scourge invasion is too busy in Outland to care so the event would run for a really long time.
I understand that GM run events are cost prohibitive with the number of servers, but the scourge invasion is just a flag that needs to be triggered and it should run the script automatically.
Just give every week a 20% chance or so for the invasion, lasts that week, then goes away. Simple way to keep WoW a bit more interesting.

Same deal could work for many other events.
Hmm... the dead march on Darkshire? I like it.
Troggs swarm out of Gnomeregan and march on Ironforge?
Ooh. The black dragonflight assaults Stormwind!
This is an idea I could get behind.
Heck, you could even make an Arrakoa invasion of Shat, a Demon invasion of Honor Hold/Thrallmar, Ogre invasion of Telaar.... the possibilities are endless...

"...also, we don't really care to add anything else new and exciting to Azeroth, we just want to focus on Outland and future expansions.. have a nice day and thank you buying Blizzard products..."
