Ok Blizz, you have done it again. How rare are primals supposed to be? It started out fine, they were easily farmable, you could spend an hour of casual farming and get 1 or 2. Now you have to kill 20-30 elementals to get 1-2 motes. This is ridiculous. Competition for elemental spawns is getting worse and worse with every stealth nerf you put in game. And don't try to claim you aren't messing with the drop rate. I have seen it first hand, it gets worse every patch. You get my $15 a month, you don't require me to play so many hours a week, but with these nerfs, the motes are becoming as rare as essences used to be. Just the motes!

Tell me to QQ all you want haters, but I can only play a hour or two a night and all I do now is farm motes. I don't have time for anything else. Please stop messing with the drop rates, Blizz.

Here's an idea... stop farming motes.

whats with the new essence of X drops too? They drop more then motes from what ive seen. just vendored 30 essence of air because it doesnt sell at all.

Mote drops were nerfed? I haven't really farmed any for a while but the price of primal air, fire, and mana has dropped quite a bit recently imo.

A blue confirmed the essences dont change the mote drop rate. They are just a seperate addition to the loot table of mobs.

It's called a PROC... it's part of the coding...

One minute you could have a 90% drop rate and then all of a sudden it drops to 8%... it's designed to be as random as it possibly can (tru randomness, however, is impossible)...

You just got "unlucky"...

i went out farming motes with a mage buddy of mine once... in the time it took me to get 1 primal he had gotten 2.5...

Did Blizz nerf my mote drops but not his?... No... His motes were PROCing better than mine...

It's all "chance"... i don't believe for a second that Blizz is messing with drop rates

Actually, check Silmyr Lake NE of Shattrath. The eels in there used to
drop Mote of Water like crazy. You could spend an hour there and go
away with 20 Mote of Water.

The last 2 times I went there, they dropped zero.

Without a lot more extensive testing, I'll never know for sure 100%, but I used to be able to get 3-4 Primal Fires in Skald in Blade's Edge Mountains in about 2 hours of farming. Now, it's hard to come away with 2 in the same amount of time.

Granted, the place is overfarmed now most of the time, but I have noticed a decline in frequency of drops, even when i'm there alone.

I wish I could just stop farming them, but I need them for Tailoring, Leatherworking, etc. I could just buy them, but then I need to farm gold as well and I am having enough of a time saving for 300 riding skill as it is. So either I spend the time farming motes, or i spend the time farming gold. It's still farming.

And Air is getting just as bad or worse due to the new snakes they added in Shadowmoon. I go after the air elementals up there on the northern edge of the zone but they added snakes for the cobra scale drops, effectively doubling the trash you need to kill to farm air. The whole thing was poorly thought out and implemented. I thought the point of mote drops was to make the player feel as though they were progressing at something instead of waiting for that one drop they need like the Essences became pre-BC. But if they keep nerfing drop rates in order to drive up the rarity of Primals, it's going to become the same situation where the only decent way to get any crafting done is to rely on the ridiculous AH prices.

I would rather not have my time and gold dictated by my server's Hordeside community and what gold farmers think a good price for primals is. I want to farm the mats myself, but apparently, to do so , I have to give up all my game time to farm.

Whatever, Blizz won't read this, they won't do anything anyways. It just makes me frustrated that I can't devote every waking minute to WoW cause my real life sucks.

I find mote rates change each day.

Some days I'll roll in, kill five mobs and have a primal.

Other days I'll roll in, kill ten mobs, and have one mote.

It's just random.

What they did was add Essences to the loot table for a lot of mobs. This reduces the chance for motes to drop. WHY oh WHY are essences even found in The Burning Crusade. They have NO VALUE anymore. Remove Essences from loot tables and the rate of motes will increase due to a smaller loot table.
