0. Serpentshrine Cavern visibility hotfix 06/07/2007 10:23:33 AM PDT
To try and address reported frame rate issues in Serpentshrine Cavern, a change to the visibility rules for many of the creatures there has been made. Players will no longer be able to see manyof the creatures at a completely unlimited distance, but at the more normal visibility range you typically experience with outdoor content. No changes were made to the actual spawning of the zone.

Thank god and is this live? I lag in SSC every raid but im fine in all other instances up to this point. Frame rate drops in the amounts of 50+ to ~15.

from what what i've seen many people were getting extremely low FPS in there, people who had never had such issues on any other instance making them lag, not act accodingly even after re-booting, turning off mods, etc, they were still getting 5-15fps on fights
this will most def help on that

Q u o t e: I liked it when this hotfix went live last night, dc'ing the raid putting us at the entrance of SSC, initiating trash reclears.
Though I'll admit that the change will make my FPS much more enjoyable on Leotheras.
Least you weren't looting Hydross on your first kill.
GG.
Grateful for the hotfix though.

Please put a little more thought into this in the future. We had just finished ~20 minutes of trash clearing and were about to pull when SSC went down. By the time we got everyone back online we had wasted well over an hour. I'm all for fixes, but this one was hardly urgent.

Yes because having raid members constantly crash, have massive FPS loss and be unable to log in after crashing because the amount of things loading crashs WoW is not urgent...

Was this "fix" simply implemented to alleviate public QQing, or was there a legitimate issue with the zone visuals that was tested and reproduced in house?
I'm curious about the validity of the frame rate issue claims as my guild mates (and admittedly myself included) have had recent frame rate issues due to the newest realm patches and a combination of unsupported and/or out of date add-ons. Once all of our add-ons were updated, the issues have subsided, but I certainly never suspected an actual instance issue...
