Q u o t e:
What kind of college classes should you take if you want to work at blizzard? Like as a game designer, or whatever other positions there are. Help please!

It depends on the department you want to work in. Take a look at the jobopp page here- http://www.blizzard.com/jobopp/ and read up on the various positions then, start asking around. There are quite a few schools that offer game design specific courses, art courses, server technology, etc. It just depends on what you want to do. Some positions are a bit more ambiguous in nature in the game field and don't necessarily require one particular background in school, but more experience in your chosen field in one way or another.

Good luck!

*Just a quick note... Let's keep any and all nationalism out of this thread please. We also have two locations currently, Austin and Irvine. It depends on the job you want as to where you would need to be.

Translation: If you have a WoW fan site and have end game raided in EQ and some how managed to get some college under your belt in any area at all, you're qualified to work on WoW.

Just before my canceled account expires I'm sending Blizzard an email letting them know I am banning them from my money permanently... Good times. Blizzard Entertainment, we put the "K" in "Kwality"

Terrible translation. I was looking for far more angst and anger. What a letdown! ;)

Also, please don't let anyone try to tell you what is and isn't possible. If you have a dream, then go for it. The only failure is in never having tried.

The requirements for being a community manager hold having run a fan site in higher regard than a degree in sociology or psychology or Hell any college education at all... LOL!

Yes, you too can make $12 an hour!

There's going to be a shortage of angst for the next few hours, not all the kiddies are out of school yet.

Do your research before you commit yourself to game design and development. I don't mean look at schools to see what they offer. I mean go to 3d and game forums and ask around about the field. Game dev isn't what most people think it is. It's a *LOT* of work and it isn't easy. There are some game companies out there who work their employers 90 hours a week which can be extremely stressful. It's also a very competitive field, so if you don't know your stuff, you're in for a big surprise.

I'll leave you with this fun fact: the average game developer lapses after 5 years.

Multi-million dollar corporations hire unqualified employees to lead projects they have invested large amounts of in capital to create. The highly successful company is stepping aside because the consumer market knows best. You are now tasked with deciding who is and is not qualified to lead these projects. Do you accept?

Still falling short but a B+ for effort. :) Sometimes there are things that can't be learned in college and depend more on the person than the education as we all know. It's always fascinating to see what people believe our pay is or our education levels though.

That is pretty damn insulting you know. Some people actually choose what they want to do, which can be arts. They do not take it because they suck at maths and science. When someone takes a science degree do you automatically think 'oh they were not cut out for an arts degree'? Stop labelling people already.

Someone was a communications major.

Well..even if the classes will be generally applicable. Try not to make working at one company your driving motivation when choosing university courses.

It is possible to provide security against other things, but as far as death is concerned, we men all live in a city without walls.

Yep, that's why I only hire college educated people. Just like the Azzhats that play this game, say about Heroic dungeons, if you can't get through college (which is the easiest thing to do on the planet earth) you aren't working for me.

It's always fascinating to see what the scubs of the earth will say to justify their employeement.

You like how I used real life to make 99% of the leetist post on these boards bannable? You will be permabanning me now, right?

You used the words azzhat, "scubs", "employeement", and leetist.

Wait, what were you arguing again?
