0. Alchemy discovery rate? 05/25/2007 11:27:28 AM PDT

Has this changed since the patch? I saved about 700 herbs in hopes of actually learning some recipes ,since i didn't seem to be able to before, and after making about 200 potions and learning absoultely nothing I thought it might be a good idea to see if there was a nerf or a hold on any new discoveries for the time being before i wasted another 100g on imbued vials.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I discovered the flask of arcane fortification (nearly useless) and 2 cauldron recipes...

The discovery rate was substantially increased with the latest patch.

Right i know that it was substantially increased, but after making 200+ potions i hadn't learned anything, so i wanted to come make a post to see if there was a hotfix because the rate was too high or whatever. I guess there wasn't any change and i can continue to plug away at it in hopes of finally learning something :D

Prior to the patch, the learn rate was something along the lines of 1 in 10,000, so a "significant increase" could mean something like 1 in 2,000, and still many people will probably never learn anything.

Let me tell you a little story about an experience I had not too long ago.

I played for a bit on the Test Realm and discovered my first flask while on it. Imagine my own disappointment when we put in the hotfix on the live realms and I realized I would not be able to try for that flask in live until the patch hit.

Flash forward a bit to making something for a guildmate for the first time since the patch and discovering something new right away.

I am no longer disappointed about the discovery on test that I wasn't able to use on live. ;)

Just hang in there and you'll get your discoveries.

20 Elixirs of healing power, 5 Super mana pots, 2 castings of Major Nature Pro (discovered Cauldron), 2 castings of major Fire Prot (discovered cauldron).

Haven't spent much time doing much more than that since the patch, though I will be getting myself set up for raiding this weekend shortly.

Well i just made 500+ potions and didn't learn a single friggin thing, so glad i saved all of my herbs up for such a substantial increase! WOOOTTTTT

Too bad there's nothing worth discovering after the nerf. There was a short time in which an alchemist could make gold making and selling the new flasks. Blizzard decided that only the people who cheated should be able to do this.

Heh, yeah, some day, I won't be disappointed that my very first discovery was "Transmute: Primal Life to Earth".

And some time after that, I won't be disappointed that my second discovery was "Transmute: Primal Fire to Mana"...

Over 100 Stacks of outlands herbs.
150+ gold worth of vials.
almost 600 elixer/potion/flask combines.

I discovered 2 flasks, and one of them sucks. This discovery system is complete garbage for people that want to have all the recipes. Hell, make me have to grind exalted with different factions, I don't care, but discoveries are so lame I seriously hate alchemy atm. At my current rate I would need well over 1k gold worth of just vials, not to mention the countless stacks of herbs to make potions out of. I coudl just sell those herbs and by myself 2 epic mounts for my toons without them.
