0. Existing Raid Content Changes 10/02/2008 09:23:40 AM PDT
To coincide with the upcoming new talents and mechanic changes for classes in the next patch, we are making some adjustments in existing raid content to provide a smooth transition when the upcoming patch is released. The creatures and bosses in raid dungeons that were introduced in The Burning Crusade will have their health reduced, and most will have their standard melee damage output reduced as well, but their spell and ability damage are not being changed. These changes are being made in all raid dungeons from Karazhan to Sunwell Plateau as well as the outdoor encounters of Doom Lord Kazzak and Doomwalker. On top of this Illidan is also doing his part and will stop casting Shear on players.

For those wondering why the health of mobs is being reduced, it's most likely because spells are about to cost a whole lot more than what the content was originally tuned for.

Q u o t e: The Illidan change is expected(now even more of a joke to MT him!) but did you really need to nerf the health of bosses?
Basically they don't want to have a situation like Patchwerk when 2.0.1 hit where groups that could kill him pre-patch couldn't do it post-patch because of all the game mechanic changes. So they're just nerfing them all to ensure they can, because it's obviously not worth the effort to manually test and change each one of them.
And it also gives guilds an incentive to keep pushing through raid content, since whatever boss they're working on now will likely fall over post-patch.

I'd be happy with them even just removing the doors to Mother. If you don't have the SR gear, you're not going anywhere, and if you have the SR gear, chances are you're killing everything to get there anyways (and are now sharding it).
They did the same thing for Kael and Vashj, why not this?

Q u o t e: Welp, this is retarded.
no, its not.
DPSers use max rank for everything. Healers DO NOT.
Without a serious nerf, you weren't going to be even clearing to Illidan to see shear very easily, and Sunwell would have been nigh un-beatable due to the brutalius healing issues with no downranking and no mana pots chugging and no major shadow priest regen.
Think a little bit before you cry. These fights are going to be as hard, if not harder, even after the nerfs. 3.0.2 reduces effective healing over time by a gigantic, enormous amount, and if you don't know that yet, better get ready to not ever being consistently topped off the way you have been in TBC.
