Its a pretty cool bg, alot diffrent then the ones out now. Though i do wish it was more then 10vs10 the map seems to big for that many players.

I disagree, the fights will center around whichever gates are currently threatened, and defenders will generally be going after enemy Demolishers. As such, the size of the map doesn't really matter. If you had more than 10 v 10, it would be even harder for a victory to occur. The battles in the Courtyard, just before the final gate, already get incredibly bloody.

Q u o t e:
An open question to Blizzard and the forum: Will we see new battlegrounds in the future? Yes, I know about Lake Wintergrasp, but this appears to be more like time-managed World PvP than a Battleground, where even numbers of individuals fight for specific objectives in an instanced zone.

If your answer is "no new battlegrounds are planned at this time", then I guess I should conclude the BGs are becoming a dead-end from the developers perspective. If that's true, then its a sad day.

Actually, we have been discussing new battlegrounds quite a bit lately. Wrath of the Lich King will feature Strand of the Ancients (attack/defend) as well as Wintergrasp (non-instanced, world PvP).

But past that, we are exploring ideas that would involve expanding our Battleground content in future patches and beyond. We believe we have some strong ideas for improving Battlegrounds and PvP as a whole in the game and we're definitely going to focus on improvements in the future. Now, it's very early to be talking about some of this stuff but I think it's important for the community to know that it's on our minds.

Our general thought is that we could provide more BG content over time. The BG content that we could provide could be of higher quality with a higher degree of accessibility. Overall, we'd like to have more content and variety. We also want the gameplay experience in the BGs to be better directed. We're also exploring the concept of a complimentary "competitive" bg system as well. Over time, we'd like the focus of PvP to shift back to being more BG-centric and more focused on Horde versus Alliance -- the core of our game.

We're also planning on improving some Battleground and PvP features in general. For example, we want to give you the ability to queue for Battlegrounds from anywhere in the world. We're also going to explore EXP gain through the PvP system as well as low level itemization to support that.

Please don't take this post as a promise. This won't be an overnight process. Not all of these things are set in stone and guaranteed to happen. It would take us a while to shift in this direction. But these are some of the current thoughts on the development team. I think it's important for you guys to know some of our thought process in regards to PvP.

Tigole, any thought given to making alternates of existing maps? That is to say, when you get in an AB game it may be as it currently exists, or it may be with snow fallen everywhere, or it may be a scourge affected version with blight everywhere?
WSG it may be as it currently is or one where the layout is somewhat different, or maybe one that's been deforested by Warsong Clan, or one where the NE have regrown a bunch of trees?
AV could have a summertime version (blooming high altitude flowers everywhere), normal (as is), and maybe one that's all flooded from spring melts (making the valleys all have lots of water, and field of strife is a lake).
Not sure about EOTS, maybe one where the asteroids have broken up more and there is bridges needed to get to each tower.

This would give more variety without splitting up the population too much, kind of like arena queues all share same queue but for different maps.

I piss excellence.

Actions speak stronger than words, and you're gonna have to fight Kalgan for this if you aren't right out lying to us. With this shift in focus, are you going to remove the arena requirement for gaining any sort of pvp gear at 80?

It seems with this, you guys are saying one thing and doing another, which is not a good thing at all.

That's great to hear. BGs were always fun to me, except for afkers. I hope all those plans you have will help getting rid of them, especially in AV. One of the thing would be to increase the honor gain from AB/WSG/EOTS so that people actually do them for more than marks. And also maybe double the amount of honor gain by winning so that some people will actually try to win instead of going "let them win, it's just a 100 honor difference."

I personally think offering a special mount to people who kill all the opposing faction's world leaders was one of the BEST things you guys have done for old school world pvp. Hopefully you'll continue with dailies and other quests of the sort.

Yes. The new BG will have a node in the center in which you must cap. Then 4 nodes surrounding it where flags are picked up and run back to the middle to be capped.

Expanding battlegrounds is pointless when you're forcing everyone to do arena.

One has to ask...if we can't achieve gear progression through the Battlegrounds, what is the point of expanding their scope?
