Is there a website of all the bosses and what abilities groudning totem absorbs? I know some bosses have debuffs or single target that can't be absorbed, so i think a list of what each boss abilities that can be absorbed. Thanks.

I use it on the Maiden. It absorbs most of the Holy Fire's she cast on the people in range in my party. Every little bit helps :)

hey, how about also starting up a list of whta bosses have buffs that we need to be sure that we purge on.

absorbs the pyros from the rift keepers in BM

Absorbs shadow chain attacks from Pandemonius in Mana Tombs and Absorbs Death Coil from Nethekurse in Shattered Halls.

The pyroblasts from the rift guys in BM

You can also purge the buff off the second boss in BM as well as the buffs that Moroes gets if there are pally adds you have to fight.

Grounding totem does not work on Julien's nuke but she will cast it on Searing totem. So I always drop rank 1 searing totem for that fight.

wow, these are some good info. i think knowning what bosses to use groudning totem on could really help a lot of shamans know when and where to use them. And purge is also good to know, i dind't know i could purge on the 2nd boss for instance.

Yeah it is some kind of speed buff usually if we have a mage he/she tries and spell steal it but I like to purge it just make sure.

Another purgable mob is the horses in khara before the first boss when they turn purple.

I heard it worked on the ushers ice tomb ability for the tanks, anyone know if this is true or not?

to clarify, the mobs in kara on the way to the opera event.

It DOES work on Ice Tomb. I have gotten the text 'Your grounding totem was hit by Ice Tomb, but is immune' message before. They to other frost effects though, so it's not going to be 100%, but it definitely HAS worked on Ice Tomb.

Also works on Bad Poetry off the trash before the Opera.

Oh I know what it was it wasn't that it could not absorb the tomb it was that grounding kept absorbing the frost shock they put on people instead of the tomb.

yeah, i could see where that could be bad, but if you timed it right, and keep dropping as many as possible, you might hit an ice tomb every so often, and even one absorb is well worth it.

Yeah, Since we have a Resto Shammy, we can drop 2 grounding totems when doing them... Still isn't 100%, but I've done a few runs where we got lucky and never had the tanks get Ice Tombed.

As a general rule grouding totem doesn't work for boss fights. That being said it never hurts to try it on various encounters. Another place it works in Karazhan is the ice tomb from skeletal ushers. Not that it will matter after the patch but you can completely negate ice tomb with one shaman and timed pull.

Gruul's lair, it will eat a lightning bolt from the shaman. Not sure about polymorph.... LB always gets it Kiggler's lb is pretty easy to heal through though so grounding is a bit of a waste.

Now, where grounding totem performs fantasticaly is in heroics. Just about any single target spell attack from a normal mob will be absorbed. One exception is mind flays in heroic SL. It brings a tear to my eye seeing an alpha strike from a group of casters land solidly on grounding totem. If cast at the same time by multiple mobs, like during a pull, all the single target spells will hit the ground totem.

If your guildies wanna gripe about not having a WF or GoA down, lettem start eating 8k crit-ing frostshocks from heroic coilfang oracles :)


Purge--- in kara, removes a buff from spell filchers (and causes mages to gripe you out)


Like I said it never hurts to try grounding totem or purge during any encounter, you may get lucky and learn something none of us knew before.

Tempest Keep Patrollers (Heroic Mechanar) - Absorbs an Arcane whatever, that does a substantial damage and has a knock-back effect. (thrash, but heroics, also first mobs in the pull, will make your grp love you from the start)

Slave Pens, Mennu (Heroic): Lightning Bolt, over 2k nature damage, uninterruptable. This one is very handy, he never casts it in less than GT cooldown. So you basically eat all he can casts.

Pretty sure can be stopped with either Earth Shock or Spell Reflect (warrior). I'd guess other interrupts should work as well though.
