Unfortunately, there was a problem with the quests this year that prevented us from having them among Brewfest, and the timeframe was such that we simply couldn't change the quests in time to get them in in their new state this year.

Trust me, we didn't want you to miss out on them either.

Just wondering how long did you guys know about the issue? How hard was it to fix? If it worked last year, what was the problem?
And now that everyone is pretty much voicing that we hate the current Brewfest, there's another year under Blizz's belt to bring it back to the way it originally was.

The issue in question came up far too late to patch and was such that we could only hotfix them out. Fixing them requires a patch we couldn't create in time.

Pink Elephants are a subtle reference to drug use and tripping. It's probably the same reason why they removed the Troll /silly of "kill two dwarves" a soccer mom from one of the square states probably went ape and complained.

What's the "kill two dwarves" thing?

Edit: omg first

5 manning a boss in BRD where you get ported to him = hardcore raiding?

damn standards have changed

You try getting a 5 man as a level 65 with crap gear. And then repeating it Thrall only knows how many times in the 4-5 hours you get to play.

Someone posted it on the first page.

As for the pink elekks... they're still in Terokkar, and they even show up in Dumbo, a Disney movie. I doubt it was because of the drug references. Stuff can break at the last second, and they did at least toss the wolpertinger on a vendor so we could still get it.

You can fix a boss fight with a hotfix for raiders, and yet you cant fix brewfest for the community...

Any chance we can make the brewfest kodos BoA? :)

Our group killed Coren for about 3 hours and I was on my lock for most of it.. As soon as it was my turn to switch to an alt, the kodo dropped... And I won. On the wrong character :(

You can't hotfix a kodo in the vendor for 600 tokens?

Boss fights primarily involve numbers, which are hotfixable. This instance would have required a significant overhaul of the mechanics, which is not.

So yes, in this case, you are completely correct.

You know, the first time around, the Wolpertinger quest was hard to do anyways, cause some jerks would running around killing the wild ones. Although I did see a wolpertinger get revenge though. Person was dueling, lost the duel, and a wolpertinger ran over, having been aggroed by some AoE effect, and bit the person, killing them instantly. The little buggers are deadly. better to not mess with them >.>

This saddens me that blizzard can't hire programmers that can hotfix things within a few days.

One of my RL friends had a private server set up at one point (yes, I know, it's against the TOS...I didn't bother playing on it because of the possibility of getting banned and also...well...WoW is a social game, playing on it with only 2-3 other people would be boring) to play around with it, and was able to fix pretty much all of the bugs going on in what was 2.3 at the time in under a week.

By himself.

Blizzard has a TEAM of programmers that couldn't fix 2 quests? Seriously. Maybe you guys should consider hiring a new team.

I don't have any arena teams for you to criticize, sorry.

I'll lay it out so you better understand.

In order to fix the quests and add them back into Brewfest this year, we would have to not only make the requisite changes (which is not difficult in and of itself) but get all the new text localized into the nine official languages the game supports, have QA test the content to ensure the changes are working properly, and create a patch for all regions to bring the content due to the nature of the changes being unhotfixable. All of this combined is a bit more work than you seem to believe, and wouldn't happen for this year's Brewfest in any case.
